Kingston announced two new portable USB data security solutions, the DataTraveler 4000 (DT4000) and the DataTraveler Vault – Privacy Managed (DTVPM) secure USB flash drives. The DT4000 is a FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certified (for the entire cryptographic module) USB flash drive with 256-bit AES hardware-based encryption in CBC mode. The drive locks down after 10 intrusion attempts and encryption key is destroyed.
The DataTraveler 4000 is available in 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities and provides up to 18MB/s read and 10MB/s write speeds. The drive has a titanium-coated stainless steel casing and is tamper-proof with coating/seal for physical security and waterproof.
Kingston will release later this year a centrally managed version of the DataTraveler 4000 for corporations requiring FIPS 140-2 Level 2 security.
